CAN ANDES FARMERS OUTSMART CLIMATE CHANGE?

Running a farm in the Andes is in itself a formidable challenge. Changeable weather patterns put the family farmers' spirit of enterprise even more to the test. Together with the Peruvian farmers we cling to the rich biodiversity.

Step 1: We unite the farmers in the Andes

The foundation of agro-ecological agriculture is fertile land with humus-rich soil that is better able to withstand excessive rainfall and persistent drought. That is why we strengthen ANPE, a members' association that supports the interests of 12,000 eco-farmers, who consciously opt for a large diversity of crops and varieties.

Step 2: We promote good agricultural practices

To successfully convert from subsistence farming to a profitable business, ANPE instructs the farmers about themes such as soil fertility, biodiversity and crop diversification. They can create an added value by washing and packaging their vegetables.

Step 3: We look for profitable markets

The demand for agro-ecological products is on the up, particularly in the capital Lima. But for the farmers in the Andes it is important to diversify their markets. This is why together we look for opportunities in local and regional markets.

Thank you for making the dreams of Peruvian organic farmers come true!

The dependence on artificial fertilisers and chemical crop protection puts Ecuadorian farmers' families in a vulnerable position. That is why Trias promotes the niche market of agro-ecology in the Andes.
Milk, and you can take a beating
In the Philippino province of Camerines Sur many children are undernourished. Nevertheless, dairy farming is very prominent in this region. Trias brings demand and offer together.

The family farmers have forever been left to fend for themselves. With Trias' support they are joining forces on national level.
